Nephew of MP held with Phensidyl

NILPHAMARI, May 23: Police early Friday arrested a ‘nephew’ of former State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Motahar Hossain Chowdhury MP along with 80 bottles of Phensidyl syrup in Jaldhaka upazila.
The arrested was identified as Sabbir Hoissain, 30, a nephew of Motahar who is now an MP from Lalmonirhat-1 constituency, and son of Mozammel Hossain Babul of Bazarpara village at Hatibandha upazila of Lalmonirhat, according to a news agency.
A patrol team of Jaldhaka police intercepted a pick-up at Dandibari of Teesta canal area around 2:45am.
Later, the law enforcers arrested Sabbir, a passenger of the vehicle, along with the contraband syrup. However, the driver managed to flee the scene.
Officer in-charge of Jaldhaka Police Station Moniruzzaman Monir confirmed the incident, saying Sabbir confessed to police that they were going to Kishoreganj with the Pheniedyl syrup.
