Nestle builds water tank for school students

Nestle Bangladesh Limited has taken a step to ensure safe good life by providing clean drinking water in a few village schools. Under the initiative, the company has built a water tank on the presmises of Rover Potty High School in Gazipur that stores clean drinking water allowing regular access of school children to drinking water. The project also includes water education programmes to teach students the importance of clean water and its conservation alongside the link between clean water, hygiene and health. The management of Kawaltia Zahir Uddin High School of the district organised a function marking World Water Day' and inauguration of the water facility Tuesday. Students, teachers and local people attended the occasion. Akheruddin Mahmood, human resources director of Nestle Bangladesh Limited, addressing the inaugural function stressed the importance of having access for all to clean drinking water. Mirza Golam Hossain, Nestle Bangladesh senior manager (corporate affairs and communication), said the clean drinking water facility would help the beneficiaries keep safe from water borne diseases like diarrhoea, typhoid, jaundice, polio and dental ones. Jatinder Middah, manufacturing director of Nestle Bangladesh, distributed prizes among the winners of the art competition following the inauguration.
