Nestle sets up safe drinking water facility on school premises

Nestle Bangladesh Limited has taken up a project of providing selected schools with clean drinking water facility. As a part of the programme, the latest facility has been set up at Kapasia High School in Gazipur district.

Nestle invested in drilling deep tubewell and constructed water tanks that stored clean drinking water allowing the school children regular access to safe drinking water.

The project also included water education programmes to teach students the importance of clean water, the need for conservation and the link between clean water, hygiene, health and well-being.

To inaugurate the newly built water facility, Kapasia High School organised a ceremony where students, teachers, local people and the UNO of Kapasia were present.

Nestle Bangladesh Limited Managing Director Laurent Therond inaugurated the safe drinking water facility and emphasised Nestle's commitment towards continuing such corporate social activities. He said Nestle would provide a few more such facilities this year in Gazipur district.

He also distributed prizes among the winners of a drawing competition.

Nestle's Senior Manager (Business Intelligence and General Affairs) Mirza Golam Hossain said the clean drinking water facility will help keep the beneficiaries safe from water borne diseases like diarrhoea, typhoid, jaundice, polio and dental diseases.

The meeting ended with a vote of thanks by senior teacher of the school Bazlur Rashid.
