Netherlands business cos urged to invest in Bangladesh

Foreign Adviser Dr. Iftekhar Ahmed Chowdhury, who is on an official visit to the Netherlands, urged European and Dutch business houses to take advantage of the market-friendly liberalised rules of Bangladesh and invest, reports BSS. brHe was speaking at the Hague Chamber of Commerce at an event well attended by European and Dutch business representatives Tuesday evening, according to a message received in city. brDr. Iftekhar said, Bangladesh is one of the most attractive investment destinations in the region today. We have liberalised our economy in a way that has surpassed many of our neighbours. We offer attractive incentives to foreign investors, legal protection against nationalisation, generous tax holidays and unrestricted repatriation of capital and profits. Also we are home to inexpensive, productive and easily trainable labour force.brHe said that investors should take advantage of the increasing regional cooperation in economic fields in South Asia, which will provide their industries, located in Bangladesh, a huge market. brHe responded to a number of questions on the general areas of trade and investment, the message said.brEarlier on the day, he had meetings with the Dutch Foreign Minister Maxime Verhagen and Development Cooperation Minister Bert Koenders.brDr. Iftekhar was also guest of honour at a dinner hosted by the Bangladesh-Dutch Chamber of Commerce in Amsterdam. br
