Netrakona takes up scheme to bring 1.36 lakh hectares under Boro cultivation

NETRAKONA, Feb 9 (UNB): An intensive scheme has been taken up to bring 1.36 lakh hectares of land under Boro paddy cultivation in 10 upazilas of the district.
Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) sources said the farmers have already cultivated Boro on 55,000 hectares in Sadar, Atpara, Mohanganj, Khaliajuri, Madan, Kendua, Barhatta, Kalmakanda, Durgapur and Purba Dhala Upazilas with the cooperation of scientists and experts, appointed by the government recently.
Experts and scientists have been appointed in 61 districts, except three hill districts, of the country for supervising the Boro cultivation across the country to boost production this season.
Scientists and experts from Bangladesh Rice Research Institute (BRRI), Department of Agricultural Extension and Agriculture Ministry have already joined their respective districts to make the target of Boro cultivation a success.
Local DAE said the experts and scientists were sharing their knowledge and experience and also providing assistance and advice to the farmers of the district to achieve bumper production.
