Neutral enquiry into grenade attack on Aug 21 demanded

Speakers at a function demanded of the caretaker government to launch a neutral enquiry into the grenade attack on a party rally on August 21, 2004.

The demand came at a meeting on "Roktakto August 21" organised by Bangabandhu Jubo Porishod, wing of Bangladesh Awami League at the National Press Club in the city Friday as it marked the fourth anniversary of the deadly incident that left 24 people killed.

Public Service Commission (PSC) former chairman and Dhaka University professor Dr Mostafa Chowdhury was present as the chief guest at the function while Bangabandhu Jubo Porishod president Md Rezaul Karim Khan presided over it.

Bangladesh Bar Council vice-chairman Khondoker Mahbub Hossain, Bangladesh Federal Journalists' Union general secretary Abdul Jalil Bhuyan and Bangabandhu Jubo Porishod general secretary Shakawat Hossain Kaiser were the discussants at the function.
