New air-conditioned train to be seen on Ctg-Dhaka rail route soon

CHITTAGONG, July 20: A new air-conditioned train is being launched on Chittagong-Dhaka rail route.

Bangladesh Railway (BR) would take a final decision to this effect within a month, concerned sources said.

Sources said, the new AC train would be launched on trial basis at the initial stage.

Meanwhile, last consignment of the imported air-conditioned coaches had recently been unloaded at Chittagong port.

According to the concerned sources, BR authority imported 30 air-conditioned coaches from China involving around Tk 1.06 billion.

For operating new air-conditioned train, 14 coaches are needed including dining car and guardroom and it requires 28 coaches for a pair of trains.

A total of 12 trains were moving on Chittagong-Dhaka rail route and transporting about ten thousand passengers daily, sources added.
