New army chief pays homage to martyred soldiers

Newly appointed Army Chief Lt General Abu Belal Muhammad Shafiul Huq on Sunday placed a wreath at the Shikha Anirban at Dhaka Cantonment paying tributes to the soldiers martyred during the Liberation War in 1971. A smartly turned out contingent of the Armed Forces presented to him a guard of honour. The army chief also planted a tree there and took part in a doa mahfil. Other senior officials of the force were present on this occasion, according to UNB.
