New bench for Khaleda\\\'s writ

Chief Justice Md Muzammel Hossain constituted a one-judge bench Sunday to hear the writ petition filed for BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia challenging the appointment of a trial judge, who indicted her and others in the Zia Orphanage Trust and Zia Charitable Trust graft cases. The new bench was needed as a two-judge bench comprising Justice Farah Mahbub and Justice M Ejarul Haque Akondo on May 25 pronounced a split decision after hearing the writ petition. — BSS
