New CAG Nurul Islam takes oath

Newly appointed Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of Bangladesh Md Nurul Islam has taken oath. Chief Justice Hasan Foez Siddique on Wednesday administered the oath at the Judges' Lounge of the Supreme Court.
Appellate Division judges and other officials of the Supreme Court were present on the occasion. Mr Islam, who was serving as the Controller General of Accounts (CGA), will serve as the CAG for the next five years, according to a circular of the government issued on July 13. He replaced Mohammad Muslim Chowdhury whose tenure ended recently.
Mr Islam, who worked in various capacities at the Audit and Accounts Department, joined as the CGA on January 31, 2021. He joined the Bangladesh Civil Service in December 1989 as an audit and accounts cadre of the 8th batch.
