New Chief Justice sworn in

President Zillur Rahman administered the oath of office to newly appointed Chief Justice ABM Khairul Haque Thursday morning. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina attended the oath taking ceremony held at the Darbar Hall of Bangabhaban at 10:30 am, report agencies.
Former chief adviser of the caretaker government Justice Latifur Rahman, outgoing Chief Justice M Fazlul Karim, Deputy Leader of Parliament Syeda Sajeda Chowdhury, cabinet members, advisers to the Prime Minister, Chief Election Commissioner, state ministers, judges of the Supreme Court, chiefs of army and air force, secretaries, attorney general, senior lawyers, and senior civil and military officials were present. Cabinet secretary M Abdul Aziz conducted the swearing-in ceremony.

Relevant corrections to the constitution have been made automatically when the verdict on Fifth Amendment was made, new chief justice A B M Khairul Haque has said.
"There is no need to make the corrections again," Haque told reporters at his chamber Thursday.
He urged the government to rewrite the Constitution of Bangladesh after necessary modifications in line with the verdict.
