New currency notes
Thursday, 17 July 2014
The Bangladesh Bank has notified through media that by the end of the first week of July, newly-printed currency notes will be circulated through banks on the occasion of holy month of Ramadan and Eid-ul-Fitr.
Currency notes of the same denomination but with different colours are already in circulation. The present one hundred taka note and five hundred taka note resemble the same in respect of colour, and at times it becomes difficult to differentiate between them without reading the printed value.
Similar is the case with 50 taka currency note against five taka note, and only difference is five taka notes are a bit smaller than 50 taka notes. Considering the reading inability of a large section of the people, the Bangladesh Bank may take appropriate measures while printing future currency notes of different denominations.
