New departments to be launched in RUET

RAJSHAHI UNIVERSITY, Nov 1: Prof Sirajul Islam Chowdhury, Vice Chancellor (VC) of the Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET) said that, several new departments will be launched in RUET very soon with a view to extension of educational and research work.
The VC was present as a chief guest in ITN training program ending and its certificate distribution ceremony on the campus.
The VC added that different training and workshop programme would be arranged to develop the quality education and research in RUET.
The Mechanical Engineering Department of RUET and ITN Rajshahi sub centre jointly arranged this 8-day long training programme titled "Community Participation and Management of Water Supply and Sanitation".
Among others, RUET Pro-VC Prof M Mortuza Ali, BUET Pro-VC and director of ITN Bangladesh Prof M Habibur Rahman, coordinator ITN training Rajshahi sub center, Prof Niamul Bari, Prof S Abdul Mofiz, dean of Mechanical Engineering faculty, Prof Shofi Uddin Mian and Eng M Rashidul Hasan Addressed the programme.

Our JU Correspondent adds: The authorities of Jahangirnagar University (JU) are going to launch two new departments, Media Studies and Law, in the academic session 2011-12.
Vice Chancellor of the university Professor Dr Shariff Enamul Kabir said this while addressing the Jahangirnagar University Journalists' Association (JUJA) executive body installation programme at its office Friday as the chief guest.
"Media personalities can play pioneering role in enhancing and improving the peaceful academic atmosphere in the campus and we are going to launch these departments fulfilling the demand of time", the VC said.

A 12-day earthen ornament exhibition began at the gallery of central auditorium of Jahangirnagar University (JU) Saturday.
The exhibition will remain open from 9 am to 8 pm everyday and will continue till November 11, organised by "Banglar Terrakotta".
Students and visitors from the university and outside are visiting the exhibition.
Around 200 types of different ornaments are being exhibited.
