New DMD of Mercantile Bank*****

Mr Faruq M. Ahmed has joined Mercantile Bank Ltd as Deputy Managing Director. Prior to joining Mercantile Bank Mr Ahmed was DMD of AB Bank, said a press release. After completing Honours and Masters in Economics from Dhaka University, he started his career with AB Bank as Probationary Officer in1984. He received Bangladesh Bank and BCCI (erstwhile) Gold Medal in the Banking Diploma examination 1987 for securing the first position. During his services with AB Bank he served in different capacities at home and abroad. He was posted at the Mumbai operation of AB Bank as Country Manager for about five years. Thereafter he headed the SME division and Credit Risk Management division at Head Office of the bank. A regular columnist on banking and economic issues in the national dailies, Ahmed so far authored 12 books on economy and banking, share market, accounting, travel and literature. -FE Report
