New generation urged to know real history of Liberation War

Sector Commanders' Forum Chairman AKM Shofi Ullah urged Saturday the country's new generation to know the real history of the Liberation War and stop its distortion, reports BSS.
"The people of Bangladesh can do anything. You can make a secular, democratic Bangladesh based on the spirit of the Liberation War," he said at a discussion on 'Mujibnagar Day' in in the city.
Sector Commanders' Forum Liberation War 71 organised the discussion at the Poet Sufiya Kamal auditorium marking the historic 'Mujibnagar Day', the day of forming Bangladesh's first constitutional government.
Among others Barrister Shorab Hossain, Mahbub Uddin Ahmed, Bir Protik, freedom fighters Sultan Mahbubur Rahman Badal and Abdur Rahman Pakhi, Justice Momtaj Uddin Ahmed and Vice President of the forum Dhaka divisional unit architect Mobshwar Hossain spoke on the occasion with forum's Dhaka Division Unit President Abul Kalam Azad in the chair.
Mr. Ullah, also a former army chief, said Bangladesh Army was formed soon after country's independence with the support of the then Yugoslavia and Egypt govts.
