New Japanese envoy meets President

Newly appointed Japanese Ambassador to Bangladesh Masato Watanabe presented his credentials to President Abdul Hamid at Bangabhaban on Thursday.
Welcoming the new envoy, the President urged the Japanese investors to invest in Bangladesh saying that a special economic zone has been set up for them in this regard, president’s press secretary Joynal Abedin told UNB after the meeting.
Noting that Bangladesh always considers Japan as its reliable development, said the visits of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to Japan in May, 2014 and Japanese Prime Minister’s Shinzo Abe’s visit to Bangladesh in September, 2014 have strengthened the ties between the two countries.
Masato Watanabe said Japan is interested to continue its assistance for Bangladesh’s economic development.
Earlier, on his arrival at Bangabhaban, the new envoy was given a guard of honour by a contingent of the President’s Guard Regiment.
Secretaries concerned to the President were present during the meeting with the President.
