Scarpe e Moda Ltd, an Italy-Bangladesh joint venture leather footwear manufacturing company made its debut recently. This new shoe project is the joint venture between Leatherex Footwear Industries Ltd, Bangladesh and BZ Moda s.r.l. Italy. Scarpe e Moda Ltd. will be operated under Italian technical know-how and will produce hi-tech and top Italian brands in Bangladesh, those will be sold in Europe, USA and Australia. The company already started commercial production from May 2 last. The inauguration programme of the new company took place in the city recently. Commerce Minister Mr. Muhammad Faruk Khan, MP graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, Mr. Syed Manzur Elahi, Chairman Apex Adelchi Footwear Ltd. was the Special Guest and Mr. Md. Saiful Islam, President, Leathergoods & Footwear Manufacturers' & Exporters' Association of Bangladesh (LFMEAB) was the Guest of Honor. Mr. Muhammad Faruk Khan appreciated such joint venture and warmly greeted the Italian counterparts and reiterated the government's strong commitment to develop the country's economy. Mr. Syed Manzur Elahi also shared his long outstanding experience with the audiences and emphasized on global trade of footwear and the coming opportunities for Bangladesh. Mr. Md. Saiful Islam highlighted on the current situation of the sector and urged the Government for providing congenial policy support. Mr. Masahiro Isokawa, President, Kansai Actions Co., Inc., Kobe Japan was honored by a Crest for his long 18 years contribution in the leather and leather footwear sector of Bangladesh. Franco Ballin, a renowned footwear personality of Italy is the Chairman while Mohammed Nazmul Hassan Sohail is the Managing Director of the company as well as Leatherex. Amedeo Zinato, Mr. Mollah Md. Anwarul Amin and Mr. Mohammed Shariful Hassan are the Directors.
