New judge for Khaleda graft cases

The government has appointed a new judge for the court, which is trying two corruption cases involving BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, her elder son and BNP Senior Vice Chairman Tarique Rahman and others. The Mionistry of Law on Thursday gave the appointment of the new judge at the Third Special Judge’s Court, Dhaka, for trial of the two graft cases following a Suptreme Court directive. Law Ministry officials said that the ministry’s Joint Secretary Abu Ahmed Jamadar will replace judge Basudev Roy at the 3rd Special Judge’s Court. ‘On the Supreme Court’s directive, Basudev Roy has been transferred to the Patuakhali Special Judge’s Court,’ said the ministry’s Information Officer Abdullah Al Shahin, according to a news agency.
