New jute mill at Mongla EPZ

KHULNA, Dec 5: Rupsha Jute Diversification Limited is being established at Mongla Export Processing Zone at a cost of Tk. 300 million. About two thousand people will get job opportunities in the industry. The authority expects the mill will start within next three months.
It is learnt that a deal has been signed with the Chairman of BEFZA on November 23 to set up a jute industry at Mongla EPZ. Besides, the company has a plan to establish a LP gas plant at Mongla Port area. According to a contract BEFZA handed over 9 plots of Mongla EPZ to the company recently.
Major (Rtd.) Modasser Hossain, Managing Director of Rupsha Jute Diversification Limited said that the company is going to set up a jute industry for the production of jute goods at a cost of Tk. 300 million and about 2200 people will get jobs and the industry will go into production with in next three months.

Coast guard (West Zone) and RAB-6 members seized Indian sarees, cloths and blankets worth about Tk. 20 million from a covered van of a courier services Saturday night. The recovered goods were handed over to the Mongla Customs authority.
Coast guard said that on information coast guard and RAB jointly took position at Rupsha Bridge area at midnight when a Dhaka bound covered van of Janani Courier Service reached the area they halted it. They searched the van and recovered 860 pieces of Indian sarees, 834 metres of cloths and 173 pieces of blankets worth about Tk. 18.4 million.
