New jute mill opens in Nilphamari

NILPHAMARI, Aug 17: A new jute mill named Eco Jute Processing has started production at Dhelapir in Syedpur Upazila in the district recently.
The mill was inaugurated by Tosmina Alam, mother of entrepreneur Siddiqul Alam.
Local MP IAM Saklain attended the occasion as the chief guest along with Deputy Commissioner of Nilphamari Zillur Rahman, TNO of Syedpur Sabina Alam, Nilphamari Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Abdul Wahed Sarkar, National Bank official Md Azim Uddin and other guests.
Sources said National Bank, Syedpur branch provided Tk 500 million loan to setup the mill where 500 workers are employed.
The mill is producing gunny bags and ropes in the preliminary stage.
