New Palestinian unity govt sworn in

A new Palestinian unity government was sworn in before president Mahmud Abbas on Monday in line with a surprise unity deal between leaders in the West Bank and Gaza Strip. The cabinet, which is made up of political independents, comprises 17 ministers, five of them from Gaza, and is headed by prime minister Rami Hamdallah. Meanwhile, Palestinian president Mahmud Abbas hailed the "end" of Palestinian division as a new government took its oath. Hamas also hails the unity government 'of all Palestinians', according to AFP.
