New season teas in strong demand
Wednesday, 17 March 2010
Several kinds of New Season teas on offer which attracted strong competition at satisfactory levels were sold between Tk 245 and Tk 259 in the last auction held in Chittagong Tuesday.
This was the last sale of the season and despite teas being of poor quality received strong support from the buyers and generally realised satisfactory prices, internal loose tea buyers were the mainstay in the market. There was no export enquiry.
Dusts sold well in line with quality.
CTC Leaf : 6,248 packages and 53 packages of New Season on offer met with a strong demand.
Brokens/Fannings : Most of the teas were end of season in quality and attracted a very strong enquiry at generally firm rates. Very few clean teas on offer were also well supported and sold at satisfactory levels.
CTC Dust : 833 packages on offer met with quite a good demand generally sold at slightly easier rates in ine with quality. Loose tea buyers showed fair intrest.
