New Uttara EPZ unit begins exporting wigs

NILPHAMARI, June 7: Evergreen Factory BD Ltd, a new industrial unit of Uttara Export Processing Zone (EPZ), has exported its first instalment of 30,000 pieces of wigs of multiple fashions to US markets recently.
The EPZ sources said the industrial unit obtained lease of 670 square metre space from Bangladesh Export Processing Zone Authority (BEPZA) this year and installed requisite equipment to make wigs for exporting to different countries.
Evergreen Factory collects waste cut hair from the barbershops through their agents from different districts of the country as wigs are made of it.
Uttara EPZ was established in 2001 on 265.7 acres of land at a cost of Tk 530 million to provide employment opportunities to 50,000 people. Six factories are in operation at present here.
