New Western Shipyard Ltd, a leading shipbuilding company in the country, will build a ro-ro ferry for Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) at a cost of Tk 290 million (Tk 29 crore) to ensure safe river transportation.
Ziaul Islam, project director of BIWTC, and Captain ABM Fazle Rabbi, operation director of Western Marine, signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organisations in the city recently.
Both the organisations hoped that after commissioning the new ferry the suffering of the passengers at the ferry terminal would greatly be reduced.
