Newborn among two killed in city road accident

Two people, including a newborn baby, were killed and five others seriously injured as a CNG-run three wheeler fell into a roadside ditch after it was hit by oil-laded truck on Demra Road in the city's Khilgaon area Monday evening. The victims were identified as Suraiya, 8, daughter of Hossain Mia, and her brother’s 3-day-old baby boy.
The injured people were identified as Shipan Mia, 25, his wife Sonia, 25, his father Hossain Mia, 50, mother Selina Akhter, 45, and mother-in-law Rina Akhter, 25.
Sources at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) said Shipon  Mia and six others went to Ad-din hospital of Moghbazar from Nabinagar of Brahmanbaria as his newborn baby was seriously ill. They were going to Narayanganj from Rampura by a CNG-run auto-rickshaw. They were scheduled to go to Brahmanbaria from Narayanganj. When their CNG-run three-wheeler reached Nagdar Bazaar of Meradia in the city’s Khilgaon area, an oil-laden lorry hit it at about 6:30 pm, causing the CNG- run vehicle to skip off and fall into the roadside ditch. The newborn baby and Suriya died on the spot, while five others were rushed to the DMCH at about 8:00 pm, according to a news agency.----Aminul
