to attend Global
Takaful Forum
A high-level delegation comprising representatives from 10 insurance companies of Bangladesh will leave for Dubai tomorrow (Tuesday) to participate in the '4th Global Takaful and Re-Takaful Forum 2022. AKM Monirul Hoque, Vice President of Bangladesh Insurance Association (BIA) and Chairman of Nitol Insurance Company Limited, will lead the delegation at the Forum to be held on August 24-27 in Dubai. He will deliver a speech on the 'Prospect and Challenge to Develop the Islamic Insurance in Bangladesh' as a guest speaker at the opening session of the Forum organised by the Al Huda Centre of Islamic Banking and Economics (Dubai, UAE). The delegation will also participate in the 'Post-Event Workshop on Operational Aspects of Takaful & Re-Takaful and Micro-Takaful' on August 25-26. They will also visit two Takaful insurance companies of the UAE on August 27. A special dinner will also be arranged by the organisers in honour of the BIA delegation on the same day. The delegation will return to Dhaka on August 28. — Statement

Barishal Zone of Islami Bank Bangladesh Limited organised a webinar on 'Compliance of Shari'ah in Banking Operations' on Saturday on a virtual platform. Md Joynal Abedin, Director of the bank, addressed the webinar as the chief guest while Muhammad Qaisar Ali, Additional Managing Director, spoke as a special guest. Dr. Muha-mmad Saifullah, Member of Shari'ah Supervisory Committee of the bank, was the key discussant. Md Shamsuddoha, Executive Vice president of Shari'ah secretariat, also addressed the programme. Presided over by Abdus Sobhan, Head of Barishal zone, the webinar was attended by Md Nuruzzaman, Head of Barishal Branch, and other executives and officials under Barishal zone.

People's Leasing: Referring to the earlier news disseminated on 03.08.2022 regarding suspension of trading of shares of People's Leasing & Financial Services Ltd, the suspension period of trading of shares of the company has been extended for further period of 15 days effective from August 19, 2022 as per Section 9(8) of the Securities and Exchange Ordinance, 1969 and Regulation 50 (3) of the Chittagong Stock Exchange (Listing) Regulations, 2015.
