MIDAS holds 25th AGM
The 25th Annual General Meeting of Micro Industries Development Assistance and Services (MIDAS) was held at its Head Office at Dhanmondi in Dhaka on Wednesday. Members of the company along with Dr ASM Mashi-ur-Rahman, Managing Director, attended the meeting, with Parveen Mahmud, FCA, Chairman, MIDAS Board, in the chair. The Chairman thanked the Board of Directors, Team MIDAS, development partners, for helping and guiding MIDAS towards the achievement of its brilliant 35th anniversary in consultancy and development arena. The Directors' Report and the annual accounts of the company for the year 2016-2017 were adopted in the meeting. The following members were present at the 25th AGM - Rokia A Rahman, SM Al-Husainy, Shaikh A Halim, Major General (Retd.) Mahabbat Jan Chowdhury, Bazlur Rahman Khan, Sabina Alam, Abdul Karim, Ghulam Rahman, M Hafizuddin Khan and Zahida Ispahani.

Biman to buy three aircraft from Canada
Biman Bangladesh Airlines is set to buy three small aircraft from Canada for the domestic routes. The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs approved on Wednesday the purchase of three Dash 8 aircraft through a government-to-government agreement. Canadian company Bombardier makes the Dash 8. Additional Cabinet Secretary Mostafizur Rahman told reporters that the committee approved Biman proposal in principle in the meeting chaired by Finance Minister AMA Muhith. Biman currently has 13 aircraft, of which seven have been taken on lease. The Dash planes, already in the Biman fleet on the lease, are being run on the domestic route.

28th AGM of BAPEX
The 28th Annual General Meeting of Bangladesh Petroleum Exploration & Production Company Ltd. (BAPEX) was held at Bangladesh Shooting Sports Federation at Gulshan in the city on Tuesday. The shareholders and members of the Board of Directors of the company attended the meeting, with Nazimuddin Chowdhury, Chairman of BAPEX Board and Secretary of Energy and Mineral Resources Division, in the chair. The AGM approved the audited accounts, auditors' report and financial statements of the company for the fiscal year 2016-2017. At the AGM, the shareholders and members of the Board of Directors expressed satisfaction over multidimensional activities of the company and placed suggestions for strengthening BAPEX. — Statement
