BEZA inks deal with Joules Power
A private company will establish facilities at Chandpur Economic Zone (CEZ) to produce 100MW solar electricity. To this effect, Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (BEZA) on Monday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Joules Power Limited (JPL) at a ceremony, held at its headquarters. BEZA Secretary Gazi Md Saifuzzaman and Managing Director of JPL Nuher Latif Khan signed the MoU on behalf of their respective sides. BEZA Executive Chairman Paban Chowdhury attended the ceremony among others, a statement said. As per the agreement, JPL will construct a multipurpose jetty and a 37-kilometer 132KV transmission line. This will be a private sector investment in power sector infrastructure project worth of US $180 million. Moreover, it will be the country's first solar IPP (Independent Power Producer) project at the most efficient tariff, the statement added. Speaking on the occasion Paban Chowdhury said BEZA is working to turn Chandpur as Bangladesh's solar power hub in future. The solar power plant along with other proposed environment friendly industries to be established at the CEZ will help develop the region's economic condition. — FE Report

Beximco Synthetics holds 27th AGM
The 27th Annual General Meeting of Beximco Synthetics Limited was held recently at Beximco Industrial Park, Sarabo, Kashimpur, Gazipur. The meeting was presided over by Mr. O. K. Chowdhury, Director, Mr. Masud Ekramullah Khan, Independent Director and Mr. Mohammad Asad Ullah, Executive Director & Company Secretary attended the meeting.  — Statement
