Two die in road crash
NARAYANGANJ, Apr 06: Two youths riding a bike were crushed under the wheels of a car on Dhaka-Araihazar Road in Narayanganj on Thursday, police said. The deceased were identified as Laden, 18, a resident of Shilmandi area of Narsingdi district, and his friend Riyadh, 20, of Pratap area of the same district. According to police, the duo fell off the bike while trying to overtake the car at high speed in the Araihazar area and came under the rear wheels of the four-wheeler. Araihazar Police Station officer-in-charge Anichur Rahman Mollah said the two youths died on the spot. "We have seized the private car and arrested its driver," he added. — UNB
Teenager stabbed to death
at Kamrangirchar
A teenage boy was stabbed to death by some unidentified miscreants in Kurarghat area of Kamrangirchar at around 08:30 pm on Thursday. The deceased was identified as Abdur Rahman, 15, son of Bahar Miah of Shaheed Nagar in the city's Lalbagh area. "Local rushed him to Dhaka Sir Salimullah Medical College (Mitford) Hospital in critical condition where the on-duty doctor declared him dead," Sub-Inspector (SI) of Kamrangirchar Police Station Kabirul Islam confirmed the matter to the news agency. — BSS
20 hurt in collision of four
buses and a car in M’singh
MYMENSINGH, May 06: At least 20 passengers were injured in a collision of four buses and a private car in Phulpur upazila of Mymensingh on Friday, police said. Abdullah Al Mamun, officer-in-charge (OC) of Phulpur police station, said a bus collided head on with a Dhaka-bound bus from Sherpur at Imadpur in Phulpur at around 11:00 am. Soon afterwards, two more buses hit the collided buses from behind and also a private car, leaving at least 20 people injured, said the OC. Among the injured, 10 were sent to Phulpur Health Complex while the rest were released with first aid. — UNB
Missing college student
found dead in Rajshahi
RAJSHAHI, May 06: Police on Friday recovered the body of a college student from Belpukur area in Puthia upazila of Rajshahi, two days after he had gone missing. The deceased was identified as Hasibur Rahman Sagar, 19, of the upazila. He was a Class-XI of Belpukur Ideal Degree College. Sagar's relatives spotted his body in Belpukur rail crossing area in the morning and alerted police. Sagor's father Sahad Ali said he went to visit Green Valley Park in Natore's Lalpur upazila with his friends and had been missing since then. He also lodged a general diary with Belpukur Police Station. Police suspected that Sagar was killed two days ago after being hit on his head. Moniruzzaman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Belpukur police station, said they informed the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to collect the evidence from the spot. GRP police were also informed for taking legal steps as the spot is under this station, said the OC. — UNB
