36 new dengue patients
hospitalised
Thirty-six new dengue patients were hospitalised in 24 hours until Monday morning as cases are rising in Bangladesh. Among them, 31 patients were hospitalised in Dhaka while the remaining 5 patients in other places, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS). The dengue cases are rising in the capital allegedly due to insufficient measures taken by the two Dhaka city corporations in preventing mosquito-borne diseases like dengue. As many as 144 dengue patients, including 125 in the capital, are now receiving treatment at hospitals across the country. — UNB
Two RNB members held for
selling tickets in black market
CHATTOGRAM, July 04:Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) members have detained two members of Railway Nirapatta Bahini (RNB) for selling tickets at higher prices in black market in Chattogram. The detainees were Md Robiul Hossain, 39, Habildar, and Md Imran Hossain, 27, a sepoy. According to RAB, they were selling tickets at exorbitant prices in front of Railway Sramik League's office at the Chattogram railway station. —UNB
Fire at N'ganj packaging factory under control
Firefighters have brought the blaze that broke out at a packaging factory at Meghna Economic Zone of Sonargaon in Narayanganj under control around 11:20am on Monday. One person was rescued during the operation, said the fire service sources and locals. — BSS
