Fugitive rape accused held in city
Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested an absconding accused in a rape case. The arrestee was identified as Din Mohammad Liton (33). A mobile phone set and a wallet were also recovered from his possession. RAB-10 sources said a team of the elite force during a drive arrested Din Mohammad in the capital's Lalbagh area on Wednesday. Liton, son of Iman Ali of Manirampur upazila of Jashoree, was the lone accused in the rape case of Satkhira's Tala upazila. He has confessed to his involvement in the incident of rape. — FE REPORT
BD logs five more dengue cases
Five more people were hospitalised with dengue in the last 24 hours until
Friday morning. All the new patients were admitted to hospitals in Dhaka, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS). Ninety-seven dengue patients, including 77 in the capital, are now receiving treatment at hospitals across the country. — UNB
Man dies after train hits him in city
A man was killed after being hit by a train at Mohakhali rail crossing in the city, police said on Friday. The incident took place on Thursday night. The dead is Md Mamun (37), son of late Mainuddin of Sunamganj's Dharmapasha upazila. Inspector Md Bachchu Mia, in-charge of DMCH Police Outpost, said a pedestrian rescued him and took him to the Emergency Department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead at 12:30pm. — UNB
BD student's body returns home from Canada
The body of Bangladeshi student Yeasin Mohammad Khan Fahim, who was found dead in his rented home in Montreal of Canada, returned to the country early Friday. A flight of Turkish Airlines carrying Fahim's body landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport around 5:04am His maternal uncle Sayed Mostak Ahmed, a special correspondent of the Daily News Mail, received the body at 7:20am at the airport after completing all the necessary procedures. — UNB
