Thai Supreme Court clears
Yingluck in negligence case
BANGKOK, Mar 04: Thailand's Supreme Court cleared self-exiled former Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra of negligence on Monday, her lawyer and local media said, in a case dating back to her time in office in 2013. Yingluck, a prominent member of the influential Shinawatra family, has been living overseas for the past six years to avoid jail for a previous conviction for negligence handed down after her government's ousting in a 2014 military coup. — Reuters

China's annual political meeting
BEIJING, Mar 04: New fertility policies and better regulation of the troubled property sector will be among issues raised by delegates at China's annual political gathering, which kicked off Monday. With voting tightly controlled and legislation pre-approved by the ruling Communist Party, it is unlikely any of their proposals will be enacted into law. But attendees at the conclave known as the "Two Sessions" can put forward suggestions hoping they might influence future legislation. — AFP
Russian warship in Qatar for exhibition
DOHA, Mar 04: Russia's Pacific Fleet frigate Marshal Shaposhnikov entered the Qatari port of Hamad where it will take part in the DIMDEX-2024 defence exhibition, Interfax news agency reported on Monday, citing the press service of fleet. "A welcoming ceremony for the Russian warship took place at the pier, in which representatives of the Russian Embassy in Qatar and officers of the naval forces of the host country took part," the agency cited the press service as saying. — Reuters
