Boy stabbed dead in teen-gang attack in Ctg
An 18-year-old boy was stabbed to death and another injured in an attack allegedly by a teen gang in the port city of Chattogram on Thursday night. The dead, Md Mehedi Hasan, hailed from Gorinda Bazar in Bhola's Lalmohan upazila but he used to live in Chattogram. The injured, Md Rifat (19), is son of Md Mintoo of Side Para under Patenga thana and undergoing treatment at Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH). Police and locals said some teens obstructed Mehedi and Rifat when they were heading towards a main road from the Akmal Ali Pocket Gate area by a rickshaw around 8:45 pm.

Squadron leader Asim laid to rest
Squadron Leader Asim Jawad was buried with state honour at Seota graveyard after a namaz-e- janaza at Manikganj Shahid Miraj-Tapon Stadium on Friday. People from all strata, including representatives from district administration, political leaders and freedom fighters, took part in the namaz-e- janaza after Jummah prayers. Squadron leader Asim died in an accident as a training plane crashed in Chattogram of Thursday. — BSS
Fire guts 15 shops in B'baria
At least 15 shops were gutted in a devastating fire that broke out at a market in Brahmanbari's Sarail upazila in the early hours on Friday. No casualties were reported. Locals said the fire broke out at a shop in a tin-shed market owned by Nesar Doctor in the Shahbajpur II Gate area of Shahbajpur union around 3:30am and it soon engulfed the adjoining shops. — UNB
