Woman, two daughters die of
poisoning in Brahmanbaria
A woman and her two children have allegedly died after ingesting poison in Brahmanbaria's Sadar Upazila. Riaz Uddin Mitul, a doctor at the emergency department at Brahmanbaria Sadar Hospital, declared them dead soon after they were rushed there on Wednesday. The dead have been identified as Sharmin Akhter, 24, and her daughters Raoza, 5, and Nowrin, 3. Dr Mitul said: "The poisoned woman was brought into the hospital's emergency department a little after 11:00 am. The two children arrived shortly after we gave instructions to admit her to the medicine ward. We tested them and found they were dead. Their mother died soon after." Workers at the emergency department said that Sharmin's husband Ashraf Mia brought the three of them to the hospital. The family members who accompanied them to the hospital said that Sharmin had poisoned her two children before taking the poison herself.— bdnews24.com

Body of missing child recovered
in Jashore
JASHORE, Nov 13: The body of a missing child was recovered from a bamboo cluster in Jhikargacca upazila of Jashore district on Wednesday, 13 hours after she had gone missing. The body of Sadia Khatun, 7, daughter of day labourer Bablur Rahman Babu of Matikomra village in Hajibagh union of Jhikargacha Upazila, was recovered with a t-shirt wrapped around its neck. The grandfather of the deceased child, Fazlur Rahman Faju, said Sadia remained missing since Tuesday afternoon and a General Diary (GD) was lodged at Jhikargacca police station. Jhikargacca Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Bablur Rahman Khan said Sadia's father lodged a complaint and expressed his suspicion about the involvement of neighbour Champa Khatun in her missing.—UNB

Foam factory fire under
control in Chattogram
CHATTOGRAM, Nov 13: A fire that broke out at a foam manufacturing factory near Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury stadium in Sagorika area of Chattogram city has been brought under control. The blaze started at around 4:45 pm and five units from the Fire Service successfully brought the fire under control within half an hour, said Abdul Aziz, a firefighter from the Fire Service and Civil Defence control room. The exact cause of the fire is yet to be determined. — UNB
