DB arrests ISKCON leader
Members of the Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) have arrested ISKCON leader Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari from near Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport. Based on information, a team of DB arrested him on Monday afternoon, said joint commissioner (DB- North) of DMP Rabiul Bhuiyan. — UNB
Beximco workers block highway in Gazipur
Workers from the Beximco Industrial Park in Gazipur have once again blocked the Chandra-Nabinagar highway, demanding their unpaid wages. The protest on Monday caused traffic disruption, forcing vehicles to take alternative routes through Dhaka-Tangail highway and regional roads connecting Dhamrai. Around 40,000 workers are employed in the factories of Beximco Industrial Park, located in the Sarabo area. Among them, many workers have not received their October salaries, leading to the unrest. — UNB
Driver arrested over death of JU student
The driver of the battery-run rickshaw that killed a first year student of Jahangirnagar University on Tuesday has been arrested. Security officials of the university detained driver Arju from the Gerua area near the university and brought him to the proctor's office on Sunday night.
Later, he was taken to Ashulia police station. Pedestrian Nayeem and rickshaw passengers Abu Hayat and Nahid identified him. Afsana Rachi, a student of the 53rd batch of the Marketing Department at the university and a resident student of Begum Khaleda Zia Hall was hit by a battery-run rickshaw on November 19. — UNB
