Six remanded in case over
robbing gold trader in city
A Dhaka court on Sunday placed six people, arrested in a case lodged over shooting and hacking a gold trader and robbing 160 bhoris of gold and Tk 100,000 from him in the city's Banasree area, on three-day remand each. The remanded accused are Md Kawser, Md Farhad, Md Khalilur Rahman, Md Sumon, Dulal Chowdhury and Aminul.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mahbub Alam passed the order, as police pleaded to place them on 10-day remand each. Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) in separate drives arrested the six accused and recovered around five bhoris of stolen gold ornaments, Tk 244,000 got from selling of the stolen gold, a 7.62 caliber pistol, four bullets and a motorcycle. — BSS

BSF hands over body of BD youth killed on Sylhet frontier
Indian Border Security Force (BSF) has handed over the body of a Bangladeshi youth, killed in an attack by Khasia people in India when he illegally entered that country through Kanaighat border on early Friday. The victim, identified as Shahed Ahmed, was the son of Moshahid Ali from Mangalpur village in Kanaighat upazila. Ctg-bound train
derails in B'baria
A coach of Chattogram-bound Mohanagar Express train from Dhaka derailed at Brahmanbaria Railway Station on Saturday night. Witnesses said four front wheels of the coach veered off the tracks with a big bang around 11:45pm and spread panic among passengers. Several passengers were injured as they tried to get off hurriedly. Expressing concern over the situation, passengers said the authorities should ensure the use of well-maintained coaches, especially ahead of the Eid travel rush, to prevent potential accidents. — UNB
