Gas cylinder blast leaves four injured in N'ganj
Four people suffered burn injuries as a gas cylinder exploded at a dockyard in the central Kheyaghat area of Bandar upazila in Narayanganj on Friday. The gas cylinder of 'Khandaker Dockyard' went off suddenly around 8:30 am while a group of workers were working there, said Bachchu Miah, in-charge of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) police outpost, quoting the injured. The injured - Belal (40), Torab (20), Kabir Hossain (35), Hashem (40) - were admitted to DMCH with 10 to 15 per cent burns each around 10:40 am, the police official added. —UNB

Cops recover teenage girl’s body in Jessore
JESSORE, Oct 20: An unidentified teenage girl was found slaughtered at Potengali village in Sadar upazila today. The age of the deceased was around 17. Azmal Huda, officer-in-charge (OC) of Kotwali Thana, said that locals spotted the body in the morning and informed police. Later, police recovered the body and sent it to Jessore 250-Bed Hospital for an autopsy. — UNB

Buet to host local edition of Hult Prize
Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (Buet) will host a local edition of Hult Prize, 2018, and this year the challenge is "Transform: Harnessing the Power of Energy". The Hult Prize is the largest competition for students around the globe for creation of social businesses which awards one million US dollars as a start-up funding to the team with the most prominent solution of one of the world's roughest challenge, said a press release. The first round of this year's competition took place on Thursday where around 150 contestants from 69 teams participated, who were challenged both individually and as a group. At the very beginning, Professor Dr Md Rezwan Khan, Vice Chancellor of United International University (UIU) and former faculty of Buet, conducted a workshop on the latest President's challenge. After scrutiny of the judging panel, 40 teams out of 70 were selected for the online submission round. — UNB
