Fruit trader stabbed to
death in Gazipur
GAZIPUR, July 14: A fruit trader was stabbed to death by hijackers in Gazipur. The deceased was identified as Momen Mia of Chatiani village in Kaliganj upazila of the district. According to the relatives of the deceased, he was going to Chandana Chowrasta of the district by an auto-rickshaw in the early hours of Friday to buy fruits. As soon as he reached the bridge in the Han Ghata area of Sadar Police Station, a gang of five hijackers tried to stop the auto-rickshaw and snatch the money, relatives said, quoting witnesses. — UNB
Two cousins drown in Kurigram
KURIGRAM, Jul 14: Two cousins drowned while playing beside a pond at Khamar Beldoho village in Kurigram's Bhuruingamari upazila on Friday. The deceased were identified as Jabir, 2, and his cousin Adib, 2, sons of Abdul Hamid and Anowar Hossain of the village. Officer-in-Charge of Bhuruingamari Police Station Ruhul Amin said, an unnatural death case will be filed in this regard. — UNB

CHATTOGRAM, Jul 14: Two motorcyclists, including a fire service official, were killed in a collision with a truck - parked on the side of the road - in Chattogram's Raozan upazila. The accident took place at 8:30 pm on Thursday at Boijjakhali Gate area of Urkirchar union of the upazila. The deceased were identified as Joy Chowdhury, 28, an employee of Kaptai Fire Service Station, and his cousin Antu Biswas, 26. Abdullah Al Harun, officer-in-charge (OC) of Raozan Police Station, said the truck was parked on one side of the road. — UNB
