Two members of ARSA, RSO killed in Ukhiya Rohingya camp
Two members of Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA) and Rohingya Solidarity Organisation (RSO) were killed in separate incidents at Ukhiya Rohingya camp in Cox's Bazar. The incidents took places in the early hour of Wednesday. A clash broke out between RSO and ARSA men in Camp-8W area in the early morning. At one point, Chakmaiya Yusuf, top commander of ARSA's 'Killing Group', was shot by the RSO and later his throat was slit. Armed Police Battalion-14 Commander Mohammad Iqbal confirmed the matter. Yusuf was a resident of Camp-9. He had three murder cases against him, said the APBN commander. Following the incident, ARSA members attacked the RSO at Camp-15 around 5:00 am. During this time, an RSO member named Arafat was stabbed to death by ARSA men. Amir Zafar, APBN-8 commander, confirmed the matter. —UNB
Driver dies as bus collides with pickup van
A 35-year-old man died after a bus collided with a pickup van on the Kaliganj-Jashore main road at Kaliganj upazila's Amtola in Jhenaidah in the early hours of Wednesday. The dead is Nazrul Islam, a driver of the pickup van from Keyapur village of Shariatpur Sadar upazila. Sheikh Mamunur Rashid, officer of Kaliganj Fire Service Station, said the incident happened when the Jashore-bound 'Fuljhuri-Shohag' bus collided with the pickup van, leaving Nazrul critically injured. Later, Fire Service men rescued him and took him to Kaliganj Upazilla Health Complex, where doctors declared him dead. Manjurul Alam, officer-in-charge of Barobazar Highway thana, said the bus is under police custody, but the driver fled the scene. — UNB
