Farmer dies being
run over by train
A farmer died after being run over by the Cox's Bazar Express train in Cox's Bazar's Eidgaon upazila on Wednesday. The dead is Abdus Sattar (45), a resident of Jumchhari area of the Islampur union of the upazila. The incident happened at around 8:00 am on Wednesday. Shuvo Ranjan Chakma, officer-in-charge of Eidgaon thana, confirmed the matter. He said the farmer was going to work in the Islamabad union when the Cox's Bazar Express train ran him over, killing him on the spot. — UNB

Auto-rickshaw driver stabbed in K'ganj
An auto-rickshaw driver was stabbed by muggers in the capital's South Keraniganj on Tuesday. The injured is Md Kawsar (27). His wife, Maksuda Begum, said muggers stabbed Kawsar and fled with his auto-rickshaw around 7:00 am on Tuesday. After stabbing Kawsar with a knife, the muggers threw him on the side of the road, said Maksuda. Seeing him lying unconscious on the roadside, a passers-by informed South Keraniganj thana about the matter. Later, police went to the spot and sent Kawsar to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), said Inspector Bacchu Mia, in-charge of DMCH Police Outpost. The victim is currently undergoing treatment at the Emergency department of the hospital, said the police official. — UNB
