Bus-van collision leaves 5 dead in Bogra
BOGRA, Jan 1: Five people were killed and 26 others injured in a fatal road accident at Noy Mile on Bogra-Dhaka highway in Shahjahanpur thana of the district on Monday afternoon. Three of the deceased were identified as Mithila, 20, Mahi Khatun, 23 and Saju, 34. The accident took place as a bus collided head-on with a covered van around 4 pm, leaving the van driver dead on the spot and 30 others injured, police said. Among the injured, four died on way to Shahid Ziaur Rahman Medical College and Hospital. — UNB
'Missing' bank executive appears in Ctg
Police found in Chittagong BRAC Bank executive Naimul Islam Saikat who had been 'missing' for six days. They say he 'went into hiding deliberately following depression over financial issues'. The family of Naimul, a senior officer at the private bank's Shyamoli branch in Dhaka, filed a general diary at Tejgaon Industrial Zone Police Station last Wednesday saying he had been missing for two days.
