PM to brief media today
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will address a press conference today (Wednesday) to brief journalists about the outcome of her recent weeklong visit to the United States to attend the 73rd UN General Assembly. The press conference will be held at her official residence Ganobhaban at 4:00pm. — UNB

Rise in imports pushes forex reserves down
Bangladesh's foreign exchange reserves fell to $31.96 billion at the end of September from $32.93 billion the previous month and were down nearly 2.6 per cent from a year earlier, the central bank said on Tuesday. The decline was fuelled by a rise in imports, a senior central bank official said, adding the reserves were sufficient to cover about 10 months' worth of imports for the country of 160 million people. — Reuters

Bangladesh will play semifinals of the SAFF U-18 Women's Football Championship as the Group B champions with a hard-earned victory over Nepal. Golam Rabbani Chhoton's team beat Nepal 2-1 at the Chalnglimithang Stadium in Thimphu, Bhutan on Tuesday.
