175,000 children go online for first time everyday: Unicef
More than 175,000 children are going online anew every day - a new child every half a second, says the UNICEF in a statement on Tuesday. Laurence Chandy, UNICEF director of Data, Research and Policy, said, "While governments and the private sector have made some progress in formulating policies and approaches to eliminate the most egregious online risks, more efforts must be made to fully understand and protect children's online lives." — BSS

Norway co to set up 800MW solar plant
I Scatec Solar, a Norwegian power producing company, will set up a 800-megawatt solar power plant in Chandpur at a cost of $1.0 billion. I Scatec Solar and Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (BEZA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for setting up the plant in
the city on Tuesday, said a BEZA media release. — BSS

No trade at Bhomra landport for 2nd day
SATKHIRA, Feb 6: Export-import activities between Bangladesh and India through Bhomra land port remained suspended on Tuesday for the second consecutive day due to an indefinite strike called by the Ghozadanga port C&F agent associations of India. The suspension for the second day triggered a gridlock in the port area. Around 1500 goods-laden trucks got stranded on both sides of the port following the strike, said Kazi Nowshad Dilwar Raju, president of Bhomra C&F agent associations. — UNB
