Biswa Ijtema begins on Jan 12
GAZIPUR, Jun 08 (BSS): Biswa Ijtema, the second-largest congregation of the Muslims after the holy hajj, will be held in two phases from January 12-14 and January 19-21 on the bank of the river Turag amid tight security. Necessary security measures have already been taken with deployment of elite force Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), Police and other law-enforcement agencies in large number to ensure smooth holding of the 53rd Biswa Ijtema. A review meeting was held with local lawmaker M Zahid Ahsan Russell in the chair. — BSS
Fire breaks out at NY Trump Tower
Two people were injured, one seriously, in an early-morning fire near the top of Trump Tower in midtown Manhattan, the New York Fire Department said on Monday. US President Donald Trump was in Washington at the time. One person sustained a serious, possibly life-threatening injury, and another had a minor injury. Eric Trump, one of the president's sons, said on Twitter that it was a small electrical fire in the cooling tower on the building's roof. — Reuters
