Chinese man held with Tk 12m

CHATTOGRAM, May 8: Customs officials arrested a Chinese national with 24 gold bars worth about Tk 12.0 million from Shah Amanat International Airport on Wednesday. The arrestee was identified as Fan Rongui. He arrived in Chattogram on board a flight (BG-148) of Biman Bangladesh Airlines at CSIA from Dubai at 7.15 am. "The gold bars were found inside a charger light that he was carrying. During a scan, the bars were spotted," said official of the CSIA. — Agencies

City 'gunfight' kills 'drug
dealer'
A suspected drug dealer was killed in a reported gunfight with Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) in city's Agargaon area early Wednesday. The identity of the deceased could not be known immediately. A team of Rab-2 had asked a group of people to stop at a check-post in Agargaon but the criminals opened fire, triggering a skirmish. The suspected drug dealer was killed during the gunfight, the sources said. — UNB
