20 missing as trawler capsizes in Meghna
MUNSHIGANJ, Jan 16: At least 20 people went missing as a soil-laden trawler capsized in the Meghna River at Charjhapta in Sadar upazila on Wednesday. The trawler with 34 workers aboard from Cumilla sank in the river after colliding with an oil-laden tanker while heading towards Fatulla in Narayanganj in the morning. A total of 14 workers managed to swim ashore while 20 remained missing. All of the workers hailed from Pabna and Sirajganj districts.— UNB
Fire guts Ctg oil depot
CHATTOGRAM, Jan 16: An oil depot was gutted in a fire in the Fouzdarhat Abdullahor Ghata area in Sitakundu upazila on Wednesday afternoon. The fire broke out around 2:15 pm and engulfed the motorbike showroom of 'Tata Motors and Borotakia Motors'. On information, 18 vehicles of six fire-fighting units and a vehicle of Navy rushed in and doused the fire around 3:30pm. — UNB
