Shifting of Rohingya to Bhasan Char starts from Oct
The government will start moving 100,000 Rohingya refugees to a remote island from next month (October), officials said on Tuesday. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is scheduled on October 3 to officially open the newly-constructed shelters for the displaced people on Bhashan Char, a muddy islet that emerged from the Bay of Bengal in 2006. The shifting plan is already behind schedule. — AFP
Cops recover three bodies from Savar, Ashulia
Police recovered three bodies, including those of two ready-made garment (RMG) workers, from separate areas of Savar and Ashulia off the capital on Tuesday morning. Of the dead, Aslam, 45, a human-hauler driver, hailing from Munshiganj, was beaten to death over parking his vehicle in front of a shop in Niribili area of Ashulia. Besides, police recovered the hanging body of RMG worker Parvin Akhter, 22, from a house in Savar. Another RMG worker Abdur Rahim was crushed under a vehicle in Singair road area. — UNB
