Maj Gen Shafeenul to head BGB
Major General Md Shafeenul Islam has been made new Director-General (DG) of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB). The Public Administration Ministry issued a notification to this effect on Tuesday. General Shafeenul Islam, who was serving as the Chairman of Bangladesh Tea Board, replaced Major-General Abul Hossain as the chief of the paramilitary force. Abul Hossain was withdrawn and attached to the Armed Forces Division on March 7. Meanwhile, Major-General Jahangir Al Mustahidur Rahman has been made new Chairman of Bangladesh Tea Board, according to the notification. General Shafeenul Islam had served as the Chairman of Bangladesh Tea Board since February 14, 2016. He joined Bangladesh Military Academy on June 25, 1984 and was commissioned on June 27, 1986 in the Corps of Infantry. He has attended several professional courses both at home

Six of a family die in Satkhira accident
At least six members of a family have been killed and seven others injured when a truck collided head-on with a pickup van in Satkhira's Patkelghata. The mishap occurred at Bhairabnagar around 8:30pm on Tuesday, Patkelghata Police Station OC Molla Zakir Hossain. The deceased are members of the family of one Moniruzzaman Shahin from Kaliakor village in Kaliganj Upazila of Satkhira. They are Shahin's mother Aklima Khatun, son 'Ashikuzzaman', 12, daughter 'Mim', 3, Noor Banu, Saidul Islam and Sabbir Hossain. Shahin said they were returning from the Namaz-e-Janaza or funeral prayers of a relative in Khulna by the pickup van when the accident occurred. OC Zakir said the seven injured were admitted to Satkhira General Hospital 'in a critical condition'.
