Dhaka urges UN to halt Israeli violence
Bangladesh has urged the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) to prevail upon Israel to immediately halt its illegal settlements and violence in the occupied Palestinian territories. Masud Bin Momen, Bangladesh's Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York, has also called on Israel to lift the blockade in the Gaza Strip and put an end to all forms of occupation and violence. He made the call in his statement at an open debate at the UNSC on Thursday on the 'Situation in the Middle East, including the Question of Palestine', according to a dispatch received in the city on Friday. — BSS
Law-enforcers suspects in Ctg muder
Police have arrested two of their personnel and one of Ansar for their suspected ties to the murder of a man who was among villagers said to be protesting against the arrest of a neighbour in Chittagong's Sitakund. The three arrested law enforcers are Sitakunda Police Station Sub-Inspector Nazmul Huda, Constable Abul Kashem, and Ansar member Ismail Hossain. Chittagong Superintendent of Police Noor-e-Alam Mina told on Friday initial investigation suggests the three went to the scene of the incident in plainclothes. On Wednesday night, law enforcers opened fire during a clash with residents of Teliparha village of Bhatiari union council in Sitakund.— bdnews24.com
UNSC to inspect 'Iranian-made' missile debris
The UN Security Council will travel to Washington on Monday to inspect debris from missiles allegedly provided by Iran to Yemen's Huthi rebels and hold meetings at the White House, diplomats said. The ambassadors are expected to meet with President Donald Trump as the US administration seeks international action against Iran, diplomats said.—AFP
