AL candidate wins Gaibandha-3 polls
GAIBANDHA, Jan 27: Awami League-nominated candidate Younus Ali Sarker has been elected Member of Parliament (MP) in the elections of Gaibandha-3 (Sadullahpur-Palashbari) seat by defeating his nearest candidate Dilara Khandoker. Younus Ali Sarker bagged 121,163 votes and his nearest rival candidate of Jatiya Party (Ershad) Dilara Khandoker got 24,385 votes. Returning Officer and Deputy Commissioner of Gaibandha Md Abdul Matin declared the results on Sunday night. — BSS
Benapole Customs House gets WB award
BENAPOLE, Jan 27: The Benapole Customs House has been honoured with 'World Bank Symbol of Appreciation Award 2019' for transparency in assessing imported goods, modernisation of import-export facilities and quicker delivery of imported goods at the house. Benapole Customs Commissioner Belal Hossain Chowdhury received the award at a seminar organised marking the International Customs Day (ICD) at the National Board of Revenue (NBR) office in the capital on Saturday. — UNB
